2012 Sustainability Competition Guidelines
Awards
Sustainability has been generally defined as the capacity to maintain a certain process or state indefinitely. As it relates to criteria for the AIMCAL Sustainability Award, submissions must demonstrate equipment, materials, processes, and/or end user benefits resulting in net savings for energy, fuel, waste, and and/or environmental hazards. Justification must be made that improving one or more criteria is not at the expense of others creating an overall negative effect.
With a major barrier to sustainability being acceptance of historical circumstances, judges will look for proactive efforts to improve upon previous standard practices. Other justifications for sustainability resulting from the member company's expertise will be considered at the discretion of the judges.
Winners are publicly announced during the annual AIMCAL Management Meeting, as well as receiving recognition in trade publications, industry trade shows and on the AIMCAL web site.
