Infrared energy plays an important role in drying/curing of coatings in web processing industries. There are many different types of infrared heaters and each application requires careful analysis before the appropriate heater is selected.
The webinar presentation will be divided into four segments. We will briefly cover different modes of heat transfer which will be followed by a discussion on the theory of infrared and different types of infrared heaters. Then we will look at the advantages of using infrared in process heating. Finally, we will cover the various web related applications of infrared heaters.

Wrinkling is one of the top causes of waste, delay and customer complaints in many web plants. In this module we begin by defining wrinkling as well as when, where and why it occurs. The focus, however, will be on diagnostics. Here we will detail the Machine Direction Wrinkle, the Diagonal Shear Wrinkle and the Baggy Web that together claim most of the troubles. We will mention spreading and other treatments as well as their limitations.
