Neal Michal is an expert in web handling, winding, converting, packaging, automation and process design. He has 31 years of experience with an $18B consumer products company with a focus on improving capability, productivity and quality by commercializing technology solutions.
Neal led open innovation efforts at the Web Handling Research Center for 21 years that resulted in $100M combined cost savings to the enterprise. He chaired the WHRC Winding Focus Team for 14 years and the Industrial Advisory Board for another two.
Neal has provided technical assistance to hundreds of material suppliers, converting customers and equipment providers. He is known for the ability to quickly access an issue, identify root cause and provide solutions.
Neal led computer modeling efforts for winding, wrinkling, accumulators and tension control. He authored six proprietary books and has provided training to over 1,000 students. He has presented several highly rated peer reviewed papers and has two patents. Neal is principal at Converting Expert, LLC.
Neal received his BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University in 1987.
