Turkey's Super Film adds fifth BOBST metallizer to produce high-barrier packaging films
Turkey-based Super Film Packaging and Trade, Inc., has invested in a BOBST EXPERT K5 2900 metallizer, bringing the company's total of BOBST systems to five and cementing the relationship which began back in 1995.
The new machine installed earlier this year features a 700-mm-diameter coating drum, reportedly the largest in the industry, along with the AluBond process, Hawkeye in-line optical-density deposition control unit and a high-rate source.
Super Film has a capacity for 70,000 tonnes of flexible-packaging films a year; 48,000 tonnes of BOPET and 29,000. tonnes of metallized film with enhanced barrier protection.
"We have had a long relationship with BOBST beginning over 25 years ago and are very happy with our existing machines," explains General Manager Fahri Ozer. "When it was time to invest in a new metallizer, BOBST was our first choice due to our history and the advances they made in their technology and processes in recent years. We are particularly impressed with the AluBond process to enable us to produce higher-barrier BOP and CPP films to meet our customers' requirements."
